Take Back Your Congress - Part 2 | |
|
Why do we believe that our vote counts for nothing? Because we let it count for nothing. It our own damn fault. We let the career politicians talk us in to believing that their party "must win" or the world will go to hell. How do they do that? By using PAC and large corporation money to lie, cheat and steal elections. We have become so complacent that we don't even listen anymore. The game is rigged folks and we keep letting it happen. Screw that. The US Constitution starts with: "We the People of the United States of America...", and it is about damn time we took our responsibilities seriously. But what can I do you ask? Well, like him or hate, Obama is right about 1 thing: "Enough!" Just not in the way that he expects. A message needs to be sent and re-sent until those who want "serve" actually remember who and what they are serving. That message? Until and unless you demonstrate that you "will uphold and defend the Constitution" you will not be back. How do we send the message? Vote against the incumbent. If there is not person to vote against (say due to term limits or retirement) then vote against the incumbent party. "Well that seems a bit arbitrary if not down right self-defeating," some will say. I say "So what?" The things that need doing aren't getting done anyway, why not take a step back and send that message? Let's face it, now is the time. All 435 seats in the House and ~1/3 of the Senate as well as the Presidency are up for grabs. The Republicans and the Democrats are counting on their polls and their game rigging (gerrymandering) to be able to ignore various House and Senate races because those are already in the bag. Both houses are so close that even a complete turnover would not give either side a commanding majority. Besides which, can we really wait any longer? I don't think so. So put this message out on mySpace, Facebook, Friendster, wherever you hang out on the 'Net. Pass the word that the Internet generation will not be taken for granted. |
